Looking back
On Saturday, 15 November 2025, Dr Mimoun Azizi gave an engaging lecture on a highly topical and often overlooked subject: the effects of discrimination on health. Dr Azizi, an experienced physician with expertise across several disciplines, took participants on an in-depth journey through the psychological, physical and social consequences of discrimination.
Dr Azizi explained how discrimination not only shapes the everyday lives of those affected, but can also have a profound impact on their inner health. His explanation of how repeated discrimination can lead to chronic stress, sleep disorders and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease was particularly striking. Psychological effects such as anxiety, depression and reduced self-esteem were also clearly illustrated.
What particularly distinguished the lecture was the way Dr Azizi made the complex links between discrimination and health understandable. He connected scientific findings with personal experiences and showed why this subject matters so much from both a social and a political perspective. Participants gained fresh insights and ideas about how discrimination can affect our quality of life, and why it is important to keep discussing it in society.
The lecture was a great success, receiving enthusiastic applause and numerous questions from the audience. The open discussion at the end was especially valuable, giving participants the opportunity to share their own thoughts and experiences.
We warmly thank Dr Azizi for his impressive lecture and hope that this important subject continues to receive public attention.
